After a few bevies we wandered down to a new S-W-T venue – Bod – yes they’ve opened yet another one of these and it’s in the main square on Stone High Street.
There was about a 50/50 split of those opting for inside/outside but we were able to get the large doors opened so that we were all still together.
Stone with Tone, Friday Aug 26, 2022
There were 20 up for it: Tone, Malc, Ali G, Yup, Pedro, Mothy, Granpop Bill, Keithee, Huge, DCeen, JC, Goosey, Jacko, Richee, Craigee, Nails, Bolt, Brolly, Dasher and Deb
There was the option to move across to The Wren but we were settled in so stayed at Bod.
Later we carried on to the Swan at the bottom of the town and again went for the outside seats. Disappointingly the Abbeydale Moonshine was “off” so had to be exchanged for some other beer (things were getting very vague by now).
When we got up to leave Jacko had a heavy fall in the back yard but the alcohol was numbing any pain.

On to Mojo’s and we had plenty of time to catch up with Dasher and Debbie who had returned to the Squarry fold after too long an absence. Great to see them both looking so well.

However, after having our starters and Cobras things started to go t*ts up. There was a long delay bringing out the mains and the restaurant had filled up with other diners; the deadline to get the last bus was fast approaching. Tone went to find out what was going on and just in time the meals came out. The food quality was as good as usual but the need to rush was spoiling the enjoyment.

Tone went to pay the bill and somehow the payment card went missing. Also JC lost his glasses case, though there could have been some revenge-case-tampering going on?!
Anyway we all piled out and went our separate ways.

There was still time for more ructions – Keith got to the station and decided to go in a quiet corner for a pee (a-la Hughie last year), fell off the platform, banged his head and lost his glasses. Fortunately Hughie, Jacko and Brolly were there to witness it and take some photos.

Brolly, being the only one of the 4 who hadn’t had the extra pint, was sober enough to call the paramedics, who arrived in double-quick time to bandage Keithee up.

The next day JC did a great job, going back to Stone and trying to sort out all the problems we’d left – he got his glasses case back; found Keithee’s glasses at the station (and got Carol to clean them up) and sorted out Tone’s deposit.

A slightly different and eventful Stone with Tone this year and lessons to be learned for the next one!

Anytime Tone

Most of us travelled by bus from Newcastle and then walked up the path from Filleybrooks. When we got to the Borehole, Craigee, Huge and the Keiths had already settled in and were 1 pint ahead – this might prove crucial later in the night!
The weather was beautiful so we sat outside on the benches. Richee arrived in style by taxi.

The beers were the usual Lymestone offering, plus a couple of craft beers that Goosey and DC took a liking to – “Hickey the Rake” and “Claps over Snares”.
